The left shoulder is mostly affected and there will be other accompanying symptoms of chest pain, palpitation or shortness of breath. Referred pain due to liver or gallbladder problems may also reflect in the shoulder, but especially the right shoulder. These potential differential diagnoses should be investigated and ruled out during initial evaluations.
